Aspen Information

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner—if you’re thinking about planning a romantic getaway to Aspen, now’s the time! There are plenty of activities to explore in Aspen, whether you’re looking for an outdoorsy adventure or want to explore the city’s art and cultural scene.

Let’s dive into the best way to spend a romantic getaway in Aspen!

Go Out in Nature

Are you a couple who enjoys being outdoors together? Then Aspen is the perfect destination for you! You don’t have to be an expert skier, either; there are plenty of things to do in Aspen besides skiing!

One popular outdoor activity in Aspen is hiking. With so many gorgeous mountains, you’ll find plenty of slopes you can conquer. In the wintertime, you’ll probably want to bring snowshoes! Check out hiking trails like Hunter Creek and Smuggler Mountain Road for an exciting wintertime adventure.

Spend Some Time on the Slopes

If skiing is your thing, you’re certainly in luck! Aspen is a world-class skiing destination, and many couples love spending a romantic getaway right by the slopes. Plenty of our Aspen vacation rentals are located conveniently close to Aspen Mountain Ski Resort, so you won’t have to travel very far!

If you haven’t skied in Aspen before, check out our Beginner’s Guide to Skiing in Aspen. We cover the best places to ski in Aspen, the optimal months of the year to hit the slopes, and information about rentals and lessons. You and your partner will be experts by the time you’re done!

After your last run of the day, don’t miss out on Aspen’s après ski scene! The city is full of local bars and cozy hangs to spend the night after a long day of skiing. Curl up with a cup of hot cocoa and enjoy each other’s company in one of Aspen’s favorite spots!

Explore Museums

What if you spent Valentine’s Day learning something new with your partner? There are plenty of museums to see in Aspen.

One of our favorites is the Aspen Art Museum. Completely free to attend, you never know just what you’ll come across here! The Aspen Art Museum is special for a lot of reasons. The building itself is a work of art and was founded (and is still run by) artists. The museum truly cares about supporting the arts in Aspen and puts on incredible rotating exhibits.

There are plenty of great opportunities to catch a show in Aspen, too. Check out the Wheeler Opera House, Aspen Santa Fe Ballet, or Theatre Aspen to see some stellar entertainment.

Unwind at One of Aspen’s Hot Springs

We can’t think of anything more romantic than unwinding in a hot spring with your partner. You can make a whole day out of this relaxing activity!

Unwind in one of Aspen’s hot springs and let your worries melt away—literally! The mountain views and peaceful setting sound like the perfect combination for a romantic day with your partner.

There are several hot springs near Aspen to choose from. Avalanche Ranch, in the heart of Crystal Valley, is quite popular and only about an hour away from Aspen. You can purchase a four-hour time slot to enjoy the springs and the gorgeous scenery—the three pools cascade into each other, and the largest pool even features a three-foot waterfall.

Penny Hot Spring is another great option, and it’s completely free! If you want to get in some exercise, too, start the day out by exploring the Filoha Meadows Nature Preserve and then soak in the springs. Either way, it’s a great way to relax with your partner, and you won’t soon forget the stunning scenery of the snow-capped mountains.
